One of the most compelling reasons to choose OmegaDeck (sometimes referred to as OmegaStone on our website) is its robust warranty.
OmegaDeck utilizes a waterproofing membrane made from Polyurethane, a material known for its exceptional durability. Polyurethane is so tough that it is used as tires on mining trucks. Thus, supporting the weight of vehicles carrying up to 350 tons of ore over sharp, broken rocks. The top coats used in OmegaDeck’s system are durable enough to be used on garage floors, even with vehicles being driven on them.
This level of durability ensures that your OmegaDeck will last for years to come.
The OmegaDeck system comprises four bonded layers. This provides both homeowners and installers with peace of mind regarding the longevity and resilience of the waterproofing solution.
LIMITED 20 YEAR WATERPROOFING WARRANTY
OmegaDeck is warrantied to be 100% waterproof for 20 years and to be free from cosmetic defects for 5 years, from date of installation, in accordance with the terms and conditions below. These cosmetic defects include any blistering, peeling, or cracking; that occurs under normal use and service during the 5 year warranty period. OmegaDeck must be installed by a NewPort Dry Deck certified installer.
The owner must clean and inspect the deck every 6 months (spring and fall preferred). It is a condition of this warranty that should your OmegaDeck show any imperfections; the customer will notify NewPort Dry Deck in writing within 7 days and prior to beginning any repair or alteration.
It is a further condition of this Warranty that NewPort Dry Deck will be permitted to inspect the claimed defect. If NewPort Dry Deck determines that the claim is in accordance with the terms of this Warranty, they will recoat the deck or refund the original purchase price of the defective material. The choice of remedy is in NewPort Dry Deck’s sole discretion. The Warranty will
then extend for the balance of the original Warranty period.
LIMITATIONS
This Limited Warranty is void if any of the following occurs: (a) movement, settling, distortion or collapse of the ground or supporting structure on which the OmegaDeck is installed; (b) naturally occurring casualties including impact of objects, earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, lightning, or acts of God; (c) improper usage, neglect or misuse by the Customer or third parties; (d) improper application of paint or other surface chemicals. This includes the use of floor mats; (e) clogged drains on enclosed decks with parapet walls that cause pooling over the deck.
NAIL/SCREW POPS/MOISTURE PENETRATION
This Warranty shall not cover any damage or loss caused by nail/screw pops or moisture penetration. When the existing deck covering is removed, it is common to find that the nails/screws have rusted heads. We cannot grind the nails/screws all the way to the joist. A nail pop may happen in the future. NewPort Dry Deck can repair it for a small cost (if that is what the customer wants). The deck will still be waterproof, it is a cosmetic issue. To eliminate any chance of nail/screw pops, NewPort Dry Deck can and will (at the customer request) remove all the plywood and replace it with new, costing thousands of dollars.
NewPort Dry Deck Warranties our waterproofing OmegaDeck coating to one inch up the wall of the surrounding structure. Plywood delamination/warping, moisture infiltration into the structure, internal rot, water damage are not Warrantied. Please inspect all parapet walls and metal capping, recaulk as needed, yearly.
OTHER CONDITIONS
OmegaDeck is a trowelled-on liquid, polyurethane waterproofing membrane. Our Warranty covers plywood decks, concrete decks and floors, garage floors, boat structures, parkades, kitchens and bathrooms. The Warranty covers the surface and cant strip (if used) or one inch up the surrounding structure.
NewPort Dry Deck does not Warranty the bond between OmegaDeck and torch-0n roofing, tiles or any existing coating that the Customer chooses to keep in place and have NewPort Dry Deck coat over top.
Local code authority approval, zoning/code requirements, engineering approval for specific load bearing capacities must be obtained by the owner prior to work beginning, at their cost. This includes railings, stairs, sunrooms and support structures. Top mount railing screws must be inspected and re-caulked, as needed.
THE WARRANT STATEMENTS CONTAINED IN THIS WARRANTY SET FORTH THE ONLY WARRANTIES BY NEWPORT DRY DECK LTD. AND ARE IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER CONDITIONS AND WARRANTIES, EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANT ABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. THE PROVISIONS OF THIS WARRANTY SHALL CONSITUTE THE ENTIRE LIABILITY OF NEWPORT DRY DECK LTD AND THE PURCHASER/PROPERTY OWNER’S EXCLUSIVE REMEDY FOR BREACH OF THIS WARRANTY, IN PARTICULAR, IN NO EVENT SHALL NEWPORT DRY DECK BY LIABLE TO THE PURCHASER/PROPERTY OWNER FOR SPECIAL INCIDENTAL, INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE MOISTURE/WATER DAMAGES ARISING FROM THE USE OF THE NEWPORT DRY DECK PRODUCTS OR THE BREACH OF ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY.THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER ANY DAMAGE TO PROPERTY, STRUCTURE OR PERSONAL PROPERTY.
IF THERE IS ANY AMOUNT OWING TO NEWPORT DRY DECK BY THE CUSTOMER FROM THE ORIGINAL INVOICE FOR THIS JOB AFTER 30 DAYS FROM THE DATE THE INVOICE WAS EMAILED TO THE CUSTOMER, THIS WARRANTY BECOMES NULL AND VOID.
THIS WARRANTY IS NOT TRANSFERABLE.
Step 1
Remove the vinyl or existing membrane, do pocket repairs if needed. Grind the deck, prep the plywood joints. Tape all joints; let them dry for about 1 hour. Trowel on the polyurethane base coat.
Step 2
Apply the urethane colour coat and add the acrylic flakes onto the wet surface. The flakes give the surface a slip resistant texture, and the colour of your choice. This needs to dry overnight.
Step 3
We remove the excess flakes. Whatever has bonded to the colour coat is there to stay. We give the surface a light sanding to ensure that it’s textured but still smooth enough and easy to clean.
Step 4
The clear coat is applied. This also needs to dry overnight. These steps are not always done in consecutive days, weather is a factor and timing is important.
My wife and I recently ran into a representative of Newport Dry Deck. They remembered us and asked how the work they had done for us eight years ago was holding up. So never too late to put in a good word for a great product.
Until last year when we finally got around to putting a roof over it our back deck was uncovered, north facing and surrounded by multiple trees. It took a good beating every year and aside from a twice yearly power wash and a bit of scrubbing in the odd place it has required no maintenance.
We also have large heavy half wine barrels full of plants and they along with other planters and furniture have been relocated and dragged around the deck all these years. Happy to say there is not a mark or tear on any of the deck surface. This product seems indestructible and has maintained it’s good looks in spite of the wear and tear we have subjected it to.
We would heartily recommend it to anyone looking for this type of deck covering. Not the cheapest option out there but worth everything you pay for!
